Software Developer

BC Platforms is looking for Software Developer to join our R&D´s Personalized Medicine Platform Development team. The team is developing software for running automated data processing pipelines for genomic data. We provide reports that are used in clinical decision making, for example in cancer treatment and precision medicine, in laboratories around the world. The team works in cooperation with the industry-leading cloud vendors and life scientists so this is a unique opportunity to learn about the newest trends and technologies inside the multidisciplinary field of bioinformatics. This position is located in Espoo, Finland. 

What you will be working on:

• Independently produce high-quality software
• Lead the design and development of software solutions based on functional requirements advised from e.g. Product Manager, Head of Development or the customer in order to be able to turn the requirements into a usable product
• Take responsibility for your and team technical deliveries to reach the time and quality targets by comprehending the whole codebase including frontend, backend, database and integrated services
• Coordinate work of a larger group of developers to ensure a successful delivery
• Coordination work with other developers, asking help from experts in another area and guiding others in technical problems
• Contribute to architectural planning

• Guide others in technical issues
• Propose improvements to the software development process
• Build a culture of open communication, helping others and have a technical ambition.

The ideal candidate should possess:

• Strong experience (minimum 2 years) in enterprise software development.

• Full-stack programming experience (React and Spring Boot or similar)
• Good understanding of at least some of the following areas:
  • RESTful service design and microservices
  • PostgreSQL
  • GCP, AWS, Azure
  • TypeScript
  • Docker
  • GitLab CI
  • Healthcare IT systems
• Fluency in English, both spoken and written
• People skills for coordinating work with other developers, maintaining a good level of communication, motivating others in challenging situations and helping other developers to learn and grow
• Eagerness to learn and grow as a professional

Additional Information

This position is located in Espoo, Finland. BC Platforms offices are based in Helsinki, Zurich, Boston and Singapore, requiring flexibility in scheduling meetings across geographies.
