Culture - BC|DAYS: Moments to remember

For many of us during the last two years of the pandemic, we have been longing for human connections in real life rather than through digital screens. For our BC Platformers, the realization gradually set in from the first team-building activities to the last banter moments on a sailing boat in the Helsinki Archipelago.
100 team members gathered in Finland on BC|DAYS, which happened in August after a long pause of in-person events. The BC|DAYS is our annual event organized twice a year to bring forth the spirit of BC Platformers through the strong connections and trusted relationships between all of our team members. It was a great opportunity for our global community to be united again in one place and to workshop the company’s strategies and future plans together.
As one of the newcomers this year, it was my first time experiencing BC|DAYS with the excitement to meet colleagues from all over the world whom I had only met online or heard their names mentioned. This blog is about BC|DAYS through a new BC Platformer’s eyes and it all started with…
The Seurasaari Afternoon: The BC|CUP

Before the workshop and conference part of the BC|DAYS, the team spirit was ignited by a series of team activities named the BC|CUP on the island called Seurasaari - a public outdoor park for everyone at the heart of Helsinki with dense forest and sandy beaches alongside historical wooden buildings. We were assigned to random teams so we got to know new colleagues. The set of games allowed us to have fun while competing for winning points in each game. Throwing darts and playing football/soccer were familiar concepts for all while there were new activities to explore such as Treasure Hunt, Molkky (Finnish bowling), and Human Knots. The chosen winning team of the BC|CUP with the highest points got to donate for a greater cause to a charity of their choice.
As each team started to go from one game to another, the unity sense had risen over friendly competitions and lots of exchanges continued with a genuine curiosity and care about each other. Our Finnish colleagues were extra hospitable in introducing their fellow colleagues to the skillful tricks of knocking wooden blocks for winning points during the Molkky game. BC|CUP was indeed a great warm-up before the official BC|DAYS at the historical Hotel Kalastajatorppa overlooking the Gulf of Finland…
BC|DAYS: Spirit of One BC | TEAM & Making 2022 a Success

With the high “esprit de corps'' from the BC|CUP, we all felt ready to join forces in the workshops and training to discuss the future and strategy of BC Platforms with an emphasis on our purpose and how we all started in the first place. Our goal is to revolutionize drug development and ultimately be the game changer in preventive care for everyday patients and global citizens. With each session, our team members learned, discussed, and reviewed together the co-created strategies that define our work and the Must-Win-battles of our team. The discussions continued for the days with great concentration and valuable information, especially for the new BC Platformers. By dinner time, we shared our heartfelt moments and exchanged knowledge on the topics of the day. The events were concluded on the historical three-masted Schooner Kathrina that took our team sailing around the Helsinki Archipelago during the golden hours of the Nordic summer with wonderful camaraderie to boost.
From my reflection on these beautiful moments at BC|DAYS, I truly believe that It is not just the mission we all share, it is also the People that make our meaningful work worthy of all the efforts.

Till next time!
